Metal Snowboard Bracket System

The metal snowboard rack allows a snowboard rack that can be mounted to both a short and long track snowmobile. No other rack is required.

Mounting Instructions

Tools Needed:
- Drill
- 1/8th, 3/16ths and 9/32nd metal drill bits
- Hole punch with Hammer
- 7/16ths or 11 mill open end wrench and ratchet wrench with 7/16ths or 11 mill socket
- Rivet gun (Air rivet gun preferably)

Parts List:
- Aluminum J – Hook
- MBH Metal Board Bracket
- 15 3/4 strap with Ratchet
- 4 ¾ strap with ladder
- Strap saver
- U side Bracket

Step 1
Before mounting metal J hook bracket look at the following things. Is the planned area of the aluminum bracket mounted as far towards the rear of snowmobile as possible? (To allow as much running board space as possible with snowboard in rack) Is there anything underneath future metal J hook bracket that I will drill a hole through? (Cooling vents ect.) Hold metal J-Hook on desired spot on top of tunnel. Holding J-bracket with one hand , place snowboard in Metal board bracket between the bindings and so tail of snowboard is on the running boards. Put the U –side bracket on snowboard. Put ladder on u-side channel into ratchet on strap coming from metal j-hook. Ratchet down a couple of clicks. Extend u-side channel toward rear binding of snowboard until strap is tight.  Check to where the U-side bracket goes on the side of the tunnel and make sure that you will be able to mount it unobstructed. You will need to be able to drill two holes and get behind tunnel to secure bolts. Make sure you answer yes to all of the following before proceeding any further.
Step 2
Place metal J hook bracket on top of tunnel in desired location. Using the hole punch, mark 4 spots in the center of holes in J bracket on top of tunnel. Drill 4 holes with a 1/8th drill bit in marked holes on tunnel. Repeat with 3/16ths drill bit in all four holes. Put aluminum J-hook bracket above holes. Place rivet in hole. Put rivet washer underneath tunnel on  end of rivet. Hold washer underneath while squeezing rivet gun. Repeat on all four. (Stainless steel rivets are difficult to do with a hand held rivet gun. Go to your local snowmobile shop and have them rivet the J-Hook bracket with an air rivet gun if you do not have one.
Step 3

Place snowboard in rack. The board should be placed so it is secured between the bindings.  The Tail of snowboard should be resting on running boards. The J hook should be on the inside of the front binding. Connect the U side bracket ladder into ratchet that is connected to strap coming off of J hook. Put the U- side bracket underneath snowboard. Place as close to rear binding as possible with the allowed length of strap. Using the hole punch mark the two holes in U side bracket on side of tunnel.  Check behind tunnel were holes are to be drilled. Make sure you will be able to get the bolt through hole and be able to get an 11 mill open end wrench behind tunnel to secure bolt while tightening. If not move to a spot you can.  Now drill a 1/8th pilot hole in the two marked spots on tunnel. Then change bits with a 9/32nds drill bit and drill two holes in pilot holes. Place square washer inside tunnel. Place the 3 ½” bolt on inside of u-side bracket. Place 3” bolt in outside hole. Place 4 ¾” inch strap with ladder strap on 3 ½” bolt followed by washer and nut. Tighten snug.
Step 4
Place snowboard in rack and ratchet it down and go snowmoboarding ASAP.
